The Full Course, explained simply

The Full Course is the driver training Edmonton Class 7 learners take for a first licence. Every version has the same 15 hours of theory. The difference is the time you spend in the car.

The standard Full Course gives you 10 hours in the car. The Extended Full Course gives you 15 hours. Full Course Value For Money gives you 18 hours. Each version also comes in an online format, where you do the 15 hours of theory online instead of in our classroom. The in-car hours stay the same.

City Driving School Ltd is an Alberta Transportation approved driving school. We have taught since 2009, and more than 6,000 students have passed with us. Pickup and drop-off for in-car lessons is free inside our service areas.

What the Full Course includes

Six versions, one course. Pick your in-car hours, then pick in class or online.

  • Full Course. 15 hours of in-class theory plus 10 hours in the car. This is the standard Class 7 driving course Edmonton learners book for a first licence.
  • Full Course Online. The same 15 hours of theory, taken online, plus 10 hours in the car.
  • Extended Full Course. 15 hours of in-class theory plus 15 hours in the car.
  • Extended Full Course Online. 15 hours of theory online plus 15 hours in the car.
  • Full Course Value For Money. 15 hours of in-class theory plus 18 hours in the car.
  • Full Course Value For Money Online. 15 hours of theory online plus 18 hours in the car.

Who the Full Course is for

The Full Course is driver training Edmonton learners can start as soon as they hold a Class 7 licence. It suits:

  • New Class 7 learners working toward a first licence.
  • Learners with little practice outside lessons who want 15 or 18 hours in the car.
  • Learners who already drive with family and want 10 hours to sharpen skills before the road test.
  • Students and busy workers who prefer to take the theory online and fit in-car lessons around their week.

How to book your Full Course

  1. Your details. Go to Booking and enter your name, email, phone, address, gender and Class 7 licence number.

  2. Pick your area. Choose Edmonton South, Beaumont, Edmonton Downtown, Edmonton North or Sherwood Park. This sets your price zone.

  3. Pick your course. Select the Full Course version you want: standard, Extended or Value For Money, in class or online.

  4. Pay, then take your first lesson. Pay online by PayPal or choose to pay at the office, then agree to the terms. You get a confirmation email. Office payers see payment pending until they pay. Your first in-car lesson starts with a free pickup from your address inside our service areas.

Full Course questions

How many hours is driving school?

The Full Course has 15 hours of theory plus 10 hours in the car. The Extended Full Course has 15 in-car hours and Value For Money has 18. Pick by how much practice you get outside lessons.

How much is driving school in Edmonton?

The Full Course is $545 in Zone A, $595 in Zone B and $645 in Zone C, plus 5% GST. Online, Extended and Value For Money versions cost more, see the prices above. Your zone is set by the area you pick when you book.

Can you take driving school online?

Yes, the theory can. Each Full Course version has an online format where you take the 15 hours of theory online. The in-car lessons are still in person, in our car, with free pickup inside our service areas.

Do driving schools provide cars?

We do. Every in-car lesson is in the school's car with an instructor certified by Alberta Transportation. You do not need a car of your own to take the course.

How do I start driving lessons?

You need a Class 7 licence, and you bring it to every lesson or the hours are lost. Book in five steps on our Booking page, or call (780) 965-1151 any day from 7:30 am to 8:00 pm. Give 24 hours notice to cancel a lesson or a $100 charge applies, see our terms.

How do I get my driver training certificate?

The insurance certificate needs a grade of 7.5 on road training and 80% on the class test. Rewriting the class test costs $25 and a duplicate certificate costs $50. Records are kept for two years, as Alberta Transportation requires.
